What do I mean? I am against welfare, and pretty much all the socal programs that take my tax money and give it to someone else. That is clearly not the job of the government was never meant to be and I am sure the founding fathers would shake there heads in disbelief.
What I want to know is did we cause this, did we create this monster. As a church the bible calls us to care for ophans and widows in there distress. To help those in need and to care for the elderly. Is the reason welfare is around, because the church failed to do what the bible calls us to do? I definitely think that is part of the problem though I am not sure I would say it is one hundred percent.
Why are you against all government programs as a whole? Why do you think the founding fathers would shake their heads? Just wondering why you seem so dead set against these programs.
Sure the church deserves some of the blame because we are called to take care of the poor, but there was many poor when Jesus walked the earth and He did not spend His time giving them food and housing. In fact He says that we will always have the poor with us.
Are we responsible for what the government does with our tax money? In the days of Jesus the Romans did some very immoral things with the tax and yet Jesus says we should still pay taxes.
The government is to big and it is inefficient. Much money is waisted and the job is not done well. welfare should be for those who are trying but struggling… right now the government can’t or won’t control it so it is pretty much for anyone who doesn’t make that much, even if that make little because they sit at home watching TV. I am trying desperately to save for college but large amounts of my money go to the government. And if I were to work at McDonnalds and not save I could probably get several large grants from the government. So clearly responsibility means nothing. The found fathers meant the government to be small, they were tired of the oppression… it took a long time for the idea of income tax to come up and for a long time it was fought.
Yeah I totally agree, not saying at all it is 100% on the church I just think we probably have not does quite as much as we could.
Not at all, they can do what they want with it and I will pay. But since this is still a democratic nation I have the right to say they are using my money wrong.
First, let me say that i am so thankful that we have a right in this country to say when we feel something is wrong. That is what makes this nation great.
I don’t like what they do with my money either, like funding abortions for free with my tax money, but I still must pay because that is what we are commanded to do. I alos don’t like that I have to pay 14% of my income to social security, and most of it I will never see.
As a nation we are responsible for getting ourselves in this mess. Greed has ruled in our hearts for too long. While the church needs to take as much responsibility as we can, most of lies on the fact that we are mainly a Godless society. That is what would make our founding fathers shake in disbelief.
As I said before however I believe our finest days are just ahead. The church alsways thrives when ungodly people rule. That is when we let God take the reigns.
I am not so sure that the people coming to rule are less Godly than the ones we have now …..
The problem with America’s welfare, social security, and even the whole economy as a whole is that nobody is smart enough to have any clue what’s happening ….. Thus $5 gas and now $1.75 gas …
Personally I’m with Oscar (about 5 minutes in). FIX IT!!!!!!

The church also needs to do far more to help others.
I agree 100%.
It ties in to some other stuff you said too …. discouraging sin would be huge. Think of all the financial problems that result from a broken family … To the positive end of encouraging vision and forcing accountability on those it helps. Not just giving money.
I think there would be less welfare if you updated your blog, and shared your wisdom more. Then maybe people would read it too.
